change fstab for Iomega REV drive

Here is a post of my fstab entries for getting my Iomega REV drive (USB) working in Suse 9.3

/dev/dvdrecorder     /media/dvdrecorder     subfs      noauto,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/dvd     /media/dvd     subfs      noauto,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/rev     /media/rev     subfs      noauto,fs=subfs,rw,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0

Stop mounting /media/VOLUME_NAME

Mounting a REV disk as /mnt/VOLUME_NAME is really a pain. So to force it to mount as /mnt/rev I did this (much like the /mnt/iPod force)

sudo vi /usr/share/hal/fdi/95userpolicy/cddvd.fdi

 


  

       dvd


       dvdrecorder


       rev


       rev

sudo rchal restart

WP Plugins for front page

I found these plugins useful and thought you might as well.

Opt-in front page plugin - Restricts the access to your front page on an opt-in basis: Only posts within the category with a slug of ‘blog’ will be displayed on your front page.

Static front page plugin - Sticks the page with a slug of ‘home’ to your front page.

Removing Desktop Icons - Gnome 2.10

Applications -> System -> Configuration -> GNOME Configuration Editor

Remove Computer Icon (Uncheck computer_icon_visible)

Remove Home Icon (Uncheck home_icon_visible)

Remove Trash Can Icon (Uncheck trash_icon_visible)

Remove Icons for Mounted Volumes [Floppy, CDRom, Memory Stick, iPod, etc] (Uncheck volumes_visible)

Check Media Type Supported in OS X

Run drutil info
